Why Churchatopia?
It’s been roughly 20 years since I published my first article. But for the last 15 years I’ve increasingly gone to pen and paper to try to communicate about issues that count. Or, at the very least, I’ve tried to foster a conversation about things that I find interesting. Thankfully, sometimes what I find interesting and what really counts happen to coincide.
Thus, Churchatopia.
For years (2010-2020) I was grateful to be a founder of and contributor to the Helwys Society Forum, a collaborative, web-based effort to foster understanding about theology, ministry, spirituality, and culture. Since January of 2022, I’ve been bringing a similar ethos and focus to this website/Substack page. I’m interested in a lot of things, but especially things that have a bearing on the people of God, the church.
At Churchatopia, I try to think deeply and widely, clearly and with conviction about all of life in light of the church’s witness.
Subscribe and get the weekly newsletter, along with special content like essays, book blurbs, and the occasional interview. You can choose the free option and get access to quite a lot of my writing. Or, if you’re feeling especially charitable, you can become a paid subscriber and get full access to my archive, commenting privileges, as well as supporting someone who is trying to cultivate a literary ministry.
You won’t be bombarded with ads, clickbait, and the like. Just an earnest effort to think and speak clearly about God’s people in God’s world.
